Q. How does the process begin?
A. We first capture the digitized
fingerprints by one of our live scan devices. At this point, personal
information combined with digital fingerprints are transmitted through
a secure ISDN phone line to the California Department of Justice
and/or FBI.
Q. What happens after the prints are processed?
A. Once the fingerprints
have undergone the back ground check by the DOJ or both the DOJ
and FBI, the results will then be sent to the appropriate requesting
agency for screening. This process
can take 3 to 5 working days.
Q. Are there any prerequisites to establishing
a fingerprinting account with U.S. Fingerprinting?
A. All agencies must first be
approved to receive criminal information and supplied an ORI (Originating
Router Identifier) number by the DOJ.
Q. Can information be transmitted directly
to FBI if needed?
A. All Live scan information must
first be transmitted through a state level or other government agency
before being submitted to the FBI. The FBI does not allow direct
submission to it’s database.

I need to bring with me for live Scan fingerprinting?
A. Each individual applicant
must bring with them proper form of picture I.D. as well as a completed
request for live scan form.
Examples:
• California ID and drivers license
• Out of State ID
• Passport

Q. Where can I get a request
for live scan form?
A. The
requesting agency (entity that is requesting the background check)
will provide the live scan forms.

have?
A. With over forty locations,
U.S. Fingerprinting is available throughout the state of California
and Nevada.
